Porsche 914-6

The Porsche 914 was a collaborative effort between Volkswagen and Porsche to create a new entry-level model for the 1970 year. At launch in 1970 the 914 was available as a 914-4; equipped with a 80HP 1.7 liter flat-four engine from Volkswagen or as a 914-6; equipped with a 110HP 2.0 liter flat-six engine from Porsche - more specifically, the 911T motor.

The 914-6 featured lower gear ratios and a high brake gearing in order to compensate for the larger six cylinder engine. Despite the performance and aesthetic improvements the 914-6 had over the 914-4, it was discontinued in 1972 not too long after production began with a mere 3,351 examples produced.

One of the earlier additions to the collection, but not forgotten! This 914-6 is one mean example of the 6 cylinder series of 914s. Take the top off, hit the road and let the wind blow on by!
