(Restored) Porsche 356 Pre-A 546/2 Engine

Product Description:

This 1.5-liter Type 546/2 flat-four is said to have been produced for use in a 1955 Porsche 356 and was acquired by the seller in 2011 as part of a larger restoration project. The engine was then rebuilt with work including replacement of the pistons, cylinders, gaskets, flywheel, and pressure plate. The carburetors were rebuilt by world renowned 356 Carburetor Rescue. The fuel pump was also rebuilt. The engine is fitted with twin Solex carburetors, mesh air cleaners, a distributor, an oil filter housing, a generator, and a new Dansk muffler. This Porsche engine is now offered by the seller on a crated pallet in Galena, Ohio.

The engine is additionally outfitted with mesh air cleaners, a six-volt Bosch coil, an oil filter housing, engine tins, exhaust equipment, and a rebuilt fuel pump. The engine has approximately 35 miles since the refurbishment, and video of the engine running is provided in the gallery.
